What are the best hospitals or medical centers to work at in Houston?

This is for a friend who does laboratory work. Any leads for openings and good work environments?

It really depends on where your friend lives, how far does he want to commute, does he like big hospitals or smaller, community hospitals? Does he like teaching institutions?

I would say that Hermann, St. Luke's and Methodist in the Med Center are all very much alike in feel, attitude and pay.

When you go out to the smaller hospitals, you may see a difference in attitude and pay. For instance, Tomball Regional Hospital is owned by the citizens of Tomball, and I think that is reflected in work attitudes. I worked for them in 96-99 and loved it. Big enough to get some good cases, but small enough so that you knew everyone!

Houston Northwest is just about in the middle of being large vs. small. I have not worked for them, but have heard good things.

There's always the county hospitals also- LBJ and Ben Taub.

The Memorial-Hermann System is all over town with smaller hospitals. Methodist and St. Luke's are also branching out.
