Thanks guys. I was chuckling when I read some of the responses...
I'm okay if the neighborhoods aren't Whitey-McWhiteville (To quote Reader529)...
We're black!
Too funny!

My advise would be to stay north of 529, although as Reader529 pointed out, there are some nice neighborhoods to the south as well.

Mr. Football always recommends some great neighborhoods in the Cypress area, but if diversity is important to you, make sure you check out the demographics of the school on Cyfair's website. When we were looking for homes north of 290, we found that many of the elementary schools in the area were only 2-3% African American. For example, Hamilton Elementary has 979 students, but only 2.4% of the student population is African American and 6.8% is Hispanic. No big deal, but if you're looking for diversity in a school as well as a nice home it's something to think about.

Truth be told, I'm probably the whitest person out there; I'm practically translucent. But I don't like the whole "white flight" movement which seems to abound in Houston surburbia. Everywhere you go there will some good and some bad. I've met great people (and jerks) of every demographic. Again, very best of luck!

Reader529, I do understand where you're coming from. The demographics at the area schools is something I'm considering, though not a dealbreaker. I was the only black kid in many of my college classes at St. John's (science geek), but it didn't bother me a bit. I'm not sure what that woud've been like in kindergarten, though. Something to think about I guess.

Hey, thanks for the chuckles you guys... moving is stressful!

I think you'll be happy in Copperfield. We would have bought a home there a few years ago if the right deal had come along.

Hey Mr.Football,

You seem to know a lot about Cypress/Cy-Fair ISD. We are relocating from Wa state to Houston, and have decided on Cy-Fair ISD. If you had to pick a set of schools in Cy-fair (Elem/Midd/High) which one's would they be? We are looking at the Cole's Crossing and Enchanted Valley neighborhoods. Advice?? THANK YOU!!!
