America's Top 25 Towns To Live Well

In Depth: America's Top 25 Towns To Live Well - Forbes.com

Hopefully with the museum and other attractions opening up in the next few years, we can continue to move up the list. This is good news for Sugar Land and Texas.

My husband calls Sugar Land, "The Bubble." We love raising our family here. It is a suburb that feels like a small town because in one year we've made good friends and whenever we go out, we see friendly people we know. It is prettier here than people realize, we have wonderful walking trails and community amenities, it is affordable, the schools are great, we have a Whole Foods and a Lifetime Fitness, the commute to downtown isn't bad if you have a carpool partner...life is good.

It is nice, but i kinda wished it didn't grow too fast. I hope the pace of growth slows a little. I like it the way it is now. Hopefully, people move to the Woodlands, Katy instead.

Well, Sugar Land is totally land-locked, so it can only grow so much more. Before too long it will be completely filled in. I've enjoyed seeing it grow.... when I was growing up here the population was about 3,500, so it's been a shocking change, but I'm not one of those to complain and wish for the old days.

I wouldn't mind a bit more growth if it meant we get Trader Joe's, Costco, and Nordstrom.

Hate to be a downer, but there are developers who want to change this. If you haven't already, take a minute to write the TDHCA with your opposition to the proposed Goldshire Townhomes, which is requesting $2,000,000 from the state to build in the middle of one of the subdivisions.

All opposition letters should be addressed to:
TDHCA Multifamily Finance Division
Attn: Sharon Gamble
P.O. Box 13941
Austin, Texas, 78711-3941

And/or email:
sharon.gamble@tdhca.state.tx.us

Reference the development:
Goldshire Townhomes
16827 Old Richmond Road
Sugar Land, Texas 77498
File # 09166

Don't forget to include your name, address and home phone for your complaint to be considered valid.

Other Houston suburbs are just as nice and in many cases, prettier than Sugar Land. Their status as an incorporated city and proactive marketing of their demographic profile has yielded them good press. Kudos to them for being smart about promoting their city.

No surprise really, Old Richmond/Boss Gaston has always been dodgy.
