We are relocating to the Houston area from Lafayette, LA.

We were primarily considering the Katy area as we have family who already live there. We really like the area (especially Kelliwood & Nottingham; Cinco Ranch, Seven Meadows and Grand Lakes come in second) but are wanting to rule out other areas before we commit.

DH's job is in the west side of the city, between the 610 loop and the Beltway, south of I-10. So we're considering Pearland and Sugarland as well.

I've not had any problems figuring out the school zoning for Pearland as they have maps I can simply print out with all the different schools. And I'm not having any luck with anything similar for Sugarland.

Am I correct in assuming there are actually two school districts in Sugarland? Fort Bend ISD and Lamar Consolidated? Any idea why I can't find similar maps for Fort Bend? (I haven't tried Lamar yet).

Any input on any of these areas as well?

Thanks in advance,
Megan

Lamar CISD is mostly Richmond & Rosenberg. Greatwood is zoned to LCISD but I think the rest of Sugar Land is FBISD.

Hello Megan,

The Sugar Land region is served by two school districts: Ft. Bend Independent School District and Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. Ft. Bend ISD serves most of areas that are within city of Sugar Land limits. Some small areas that are within Sugar Land city limits and the southwest portion of Sugar Land's extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ), for e.g. Greatwood, River Park, and areas of Sugar Land with Richmond addresses are served by Lamar Consolidated ISD.

You can find the attendance zone map for Lamar CISD here: http://www.lcisd.org/DistrictbrInformation/MapofLCISD/ (broken link)

And for Ft. Bend ISD here:
FBISD

On the FBISD site (under "Parent Information"), you can select "Attendance Zone Information by Address" to conduct a search by address or you can scroll down to "Maps" to download the .pdf files of the current attendance maps per elementary, middle, and high schools.

Please keep in mind when you look at these maps that the schools can and will rezone at any given time.

Hope that helps. Good luck on your move!

Ok maps aside, it's actually quite simple. North/East of the Brazos River is Fort Bend ISD. South/West of the Brazos is Lamar.
