i've been searching for apartments in the houston area and i'm seriously questioning it.

most of these so-called professionals are either horribly unprofessional, ghetto or just laughably fake and pretentious. one extreme or another.

i hope that's not an accurate picture of houston. the exasperating part is their seemingly inefficiency and they are hard to talk to or deal with.

they seem like they are stupid. when i was looking for an apartment in atlanta, i ran into the same problem.

is houston mostly ghetto????!

Apartment lackeys / property management reps can be like that no matter where you go. It's not a prestigious line of work, more accurately described as para-professional. If you're looking on the cheap end of things, the nonsense you're dealing with can only get worse.

If you could give more specific requirements, like your prefered location, budget and so on maybe you could get some useful advice here.

well, i looked up a place called braeswood atrium. it looked nice from the photos and was a decent price but the management sounded ridiculous, like i was talking to some rude ghetto girl and she was the manager.

i looked up kirby lofts as well, i don't know if that' in a good area or not.

the problem is, i don't want to live around ghetto areas or around those types of people not because of race but because they are generally rude and disrespectful.

i would like to live near the hmart so i can shop there on blalock. it's near I10 and between sam houston tollway and 610. is that a good area???

If that's the part of Braeswood I'm thinking about, that is super-ghetto. One of the worst places in town.

The stretch of I-10 between Beltway 8 and 610 is one of the best inside Houston.

Do you have a job lined up here? Selecting a location to live based on what shopping is nearby is probably asking for trouble. This is an enormous place and the commute can be a killer. If you can provide a price range and a work location you will probably get better suggestions.

If you are talking about the west side of that, my daughters apartment was broken into and she was stabbed 6 times and her boy friend was killed, so I wouldn't say it the best. There is a lot of crime in that area around 610.

Houston3,

So sorry to hear about that.

I hope your daughter is healing - emotionally and physically.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Still, the Memorial area is said to be one of the best parts of town.
