Not you are so wrong the wrost area of town are West Bellfort & Fondren & everything with in 1 1/2 mile 3rd ward just west of U of H to 228 & 5th ward Lockwood & I10

Now the nicest areas of town South West Side right near the loop & just in side the loop
Height higher crime rate the last 6months Ella & 610 is pretty nice & safe
Memorial is nice which nice lager homes

Over all houston is a pretty safe with the ecomony going down hill the crime rate is going up all over houston once the ecomony goes back up the crime rate will go back down

the problem is, i don't want to live around ghetto areas or around those types of people not because of race but because they are generally rude and disrespectful.

i would like to live near the hmart so i can shop there on blalock. it's near I10 and between sam houston tollway and 610. is that a good area???
Stay away from anything with the name Braseswood attached to it in regards to apartments.

No, Houston is not mostly ghetto. But yes, there is a large ghetto-nesque presence.

I was going to give you a sample of a ghetto, and Houston to compare, but I did a Google search on just the word 'Ghetto'. Check out the first picture of two women who appear to be dancing..., now that is what I call ghetto!

Memorial is one of the nicest places in town, it's apartments on I-10 aren't. I don't think any apartment near a freeway is good. You have to go to interior for safety. But then you're paying $$$. Like any city though, the more you pay the more likely you are to be safe.

I find the word "ghetto" to be pretty controversial. Do you mean poor and black? Are you asking if Houston is poor and black?

WIkipedia says: A ghetto is described as a "portion of a city in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure."[

If Houston is going to qualify as ghetto, it's more on the poor and mexican spectrum of things. And yeah, there are huge pockets of ghetto in Houston. And there're huge pockets, mostly on the westside, of extreme affluence.

Stay away from the area around Braeswood Atrium (8800 S. Braeswood). Not everything along Braeswood outside 610 is bad, but I'd definitely stay east of Fondren and probably east of Hillcroft. I go to the HEB @ Chimney Rock all the time and the neighborhoods back there look nice.
