I live in far west Houston and would like to find a really great Vietnamese restaurant. I am eating a "healthy" diet these days and I know the soups at such places are hearty and healthy. Any suggestions?

I don't understand why people think Vietnamese food is healthy? However, the only good Viet food is on Bellaire. Authentic that is.

We're big fans of Vietnamese food and have tried several restaurants on Bellaire, Sugar Land, Mason, etc. I would strongly recommend a restaurant at the corner of Beechnut and Wilcrest. It's quite old but very exotic Vietnam food. The restaurant is just like a big old-fashion Vietnamese restaurant. Most of waiters and waitresses can't speak English very well but they could communicate. We have stopped trying the other places after we tried this restaurant. I really don't know how to pronounce the name.

Please note however that Banh Mi are very much not healthy.

Yeah, anyone who serves you a big piping bowl of pasta and tells you that's health food is throwing you a line. Vietnamese food is YUMMY, though.

It could be Que Huong. And it IS great. I love the large bowls of pho. They have a large menu selection. It is one of THE best Vietnamese restaurants in town, I think, if not the best.

Try Pho 24 which is to the right of the Sinh Sinh restaurant on Bellaire. The pho is tasty and richer.

When I worked up in NW Houston off 290 I used to go to lunch from time to time with a guy who took me to this tiny little place that had an enormous selection of "big bowl" soups full of greens and veggies. The broth was heavenly and the veggies were always crunchy, with just a little pork or chicken. This is what I am looking for. I don't know Vietnamese cuisine so I have no idea what I should be looking/asking for but it it definitely the soups which except for the likely high sodium content are very nutritious and healthy.
