And here it is...

The guy said he was driving like that because he was on his cellphone.

If your tape leads to a law banning cellphones while driving, you will be a legend.

so there isn't a law here for using cell phones while driving? I just came from CA where they do have that law now and I thought it was nationwide. apparently I wasn't paying much attention. I bought my bluetooth and everything. but I saw the news last night about the car and I think it's ridiculous that they let the guy go. Regardless of what he was doing, he was driving crazy and could have hurt someone.. geez, they let people get away with that, but watch out if you are driving 5 miles over the speed limit. ridiculous.

Texas really needs a law that doesn't try to name each specific dangerous thing you can do when driving that you shouldn't be doing. We don't need a "no talking on the cell phone law," "no putting make up on or shaving while driving law," "no using both hands to hold your take out dinner while steering with your knees law," "no making out with anyone while driving law," "no turning completely around in your driver's seat to yell at your kids in the back seat law," "no driving while having dizziness and medical issues law," etc.

We just need a "no distracted driving" law. If you are doing anything other than focusing on your driving, you should get a ticket, period. And exit the roads until you can drive safely again.

Oh, and good work, Jason!

That's really what I mean I suppose. I'll call it DWS - Driving While Stupid.

So if the officer didn't actually observe any swerving or erratic driving, on what basis did he pull the car over?
