Not particularly.

Off course, the houses over here in this area are way too expensive.
You won't have a problem living in any of the transitiional areas is you are fine with the Richmond/Gessnor area. Check out Lindale Park or Oak Forest - North and Northwest. Check out the east side of downtown aw well (Eastwood). Midtown and Montrose are out of your price range.

Currently looking at the Northwest area close to SPRING. Easy access to downtown from Kuykendahl Park and Ride.

Sounds like it. How about Pearland or Summerwood?

I agree with the go west comments. You can't go wrong with any of those, but it is crowded & expensive.

Also on the inner SE is Idylwood, which I actually looked around over the weekend. It's a quaint little "pocket" neighborhood in itself, but is surrounded by a large, run-down barrio. Borderline straight-up ghetto with some houses looking almost like those shotgun shacks found in Port Arthur.

The west side won't have that kind of ''flair.''

I checked out Summerwood and fell in love with that place but but but it is little pricey for us. I just started my new job in July 2008 and don't really want to buy a 200K+ home. They have cheaper plans at Summerwood but we are more interested in 2 story 4-5 bedroom stuff.

OK, your request makes more sense now. I guess if you are looking under $200k, but want easy access to downtown ("easy" defined by bus route), then just trace the Metro park-n-ride lines and see where they stop. I don't think anything NW off 290 would be considered easy access as the buses have the same traffic to deal with that the cars do, but NE off 59 towards/in Kingwood probably fits the bill.

If you want something within easy driving distance, then NE might fit the bill as well. Not sure any other direction does.
