I actually managed to keep my TX plates when I moved back to NY - Buffalo to be exact - the weekend of the Superbowl XXVII - bad time to have TX plates! I would have cried if I'd had to surrender my plates as I was miserable leaving TX for Bflo.

I carried the TX plates around in my trunk for 15 years. Then I got married & my DH had the gall to get rid of them!!!!

I came to Houston in 1980 from Kansas City, Mo. And back then most of the out of state plates I saw were from the northern states ... ie NJ, PA, NY. Fast forward to th present time, I still see plates from those same northern states ... but also see many from western states as well. Several are from CA, NM, AZ.

I have to admit that I am not originally from Missouri, but born and raised in Louisiana. Spent several years in other Texas towns, ie Corpus Chrisiti, Harlington and Abilene.
