Which suburb is safe and has the shortest commute to the medical center?

Would like to rent a house for the first year. Doesn't necessarily have to be a suburb, but has to be a safe area, small children involved.

Thanks

You might want to check out Friendswood or Pearland (both are suburban). They are straight down 288 from the med center area. Higher priced areas to check out include Bellaire, West University, Morningside, and the Village area, and Meyerland (these are very close in).

Why the suburbs? It's not sustainable.

What is your budget?

When I lived in Houston, we lived in West University and it basically in the medical center.

Pretty pricey if you want to rent a house, but there are several town homes ($2000.00+) for rent in the area.

How about all 6 million people in greater Houston move downtown? Got enough crappy, overpriced condos ready for us?

If you want to take gloom & doom all the way, nothing modern as we know it is truly sustainable.
