I am trying to come up with a list of good communities with low crime, good schools, newer homes and a decent commute to downtown (either drive or park-and-ride). The list i have so far is:

1) Fall Creek
2) Spring Trails
3) Summerwood
4) Kingwood -- kinda long drive

Houston veterans please feel free to add more to the list. Helps people with families and jobs in downtown who are moving to houston.

The only one I can really comment on is Kingwood, as I'm not familiar with where the other neighborhoods are located.

Yes, Kingwood is pretty far out there, but honestly, Highway 59 going south into town is probably going to be the one freeway that doesn't have horrific rush hour traffic. 59 going north from Sugar Land is pretty good, too (at least when you get past the current freeway construction in Sugar Land). A friend of mine lives in Kingwood, and according to her, her husband's downtown commute is about 35 minutes or so.

I think a lot of people don't consider Kingwood because it's so far out there. But in reality, it's about as close as The Woodlands is, with a far better commute.
