Hello CD gurus,

We are a family of 2 plus 2 three year olds. We have never been to Galveston, and have planned a 3-night stay (Thu eve to Sun morn) in one of the coming weekends. Staying in Hotel Galvez.

Can ya'll suggest things to do for kids, places to eat and visit, which beaches to go to, etc?

Thanks very much!
DrD

Moody Gardens is always fun, my kids love it. Also, the Pier and you could also take a ride on the Bolivar Ferry.

The strand has lots of shopping and dining options. Plus that is where the dolphin watching tour is located. Pleasure Pier, Moody Gardens, Stewart Beach is probably best for 3 yr olds. It has showers and snack bar. If you want a less crowded beach go West to one of the pocket parks.
Dining: The Spot, Yagas, La Kings for ice cream, Gumbo Bar, Hubcap Grill and Shrimp n stuff on ave O

Definitely Moody Gardens.

Now, if you want to make the kids happy for a dinner, and you can take one for the team, Rainforest Cafe.

Is it a tourist trap? Yes. Is the food mediocre with the price of good food? Yes. Will your kids absolutely love it? Yes.

I would never send a group of adults there, but young kids absolutely love the place. It is worth the sacrifice one night.

The kids will probably want to go to the beach everyday. They have beach chair/umbrella rentals at the beach by the Galvez. You can grab fruity frozen drinks at Murdochs.
Because you will be staring at it everyday, the kids will want to go to Pleasure Pier. There are a few rides for that age plus carnival games.
The adults would enjoy the duck boat tour that departs right in front of the Pleasure Pier.
La King's on the Strand is a must.
Agree kids love Rainforest Cafe plus it has a Disney style boat ride next door & a build a bear in the gift shop.

If you do this, make sure they won't scared by the moving animals. They used to scare my son when he was that age.
