I agree, my kid was scared of Rainforest Cafe at that age.

The Galveston Train Museum is fun, especially if you can be there for the train ride. Its a slow bumpy trip perfect for little kids.

Is it a tourist trap? Yes. Is the food mediocre with the price of good food? Yes. Will your kids absolutely love it? Yes.

I would never send a group of adults there, but young kids absolutely love the place. It is worth the sacrifice one night.
You really have to like your kids a lot to do this.

BTW OP, I don't know if your trip is this weekend, but I-45 is going to be closed in both directions for construction projects from Fri night to Mon morning. Southbound will be closed from Scarsdale to NASA Pkwy and Northbound will be closed from one of the Dickinson exits to League City.

It's going to be a mess and anyone coming this way should seriously consider an alternate route, if not reconsider whether they want to come down this way at all.

HAHAHAHA! Yeah, the food sucks and is overpriced, but the kids will love it.
