Agree,
I doubt most people would be allow to go and work a side job using their job's equipment (clothes, equipment, truck, etc)

I know it is not a popular opinion, but you are now forcing people on the road to wait - sometimes quite a while - so that people coming out of the church can have priority - this is the exact opposite of right of way laws. To make things worse, when there are gaps in the flow coming out of the church property, the cops don't temporarily stop the church people - instead, they continue to hold road traffic until the line on the road is quite long. I used to have to wait up to fifteen minutes whenever I had to go out on a Sunday morning because these cops were stopping traffic on a single lane each way road. The only other way around took you miles out of your way.

What makes the church people's time any more precious than that of other drivers? IMO, This is simply using public resources for private gain.
I can guarantee you that if the police weren't there to guide traffic when one of these huge churches lets out, it would be a whole lot worse.

So you think those leaving church will just barrel out of the parking lot and into 45 MPH traffic?

Still shouldn't be blocking traffic that normally has the right of way for 20 minutes so the "churchgoers" can get home. I find it ridiculous- along with certain companies that pay to have the police block streets for their employees. I lay on the horn the whole time I'm being delayed.

They don't block it for 20 minutes straight.......stop being such a drama queen. Parking companies do the same thing downtown for the rush hour traffic. The cops stop traffic to allow the employees to leave the office building garages.

Yes, there is a limit, I asked a cop buddy of mine that's an Humble PD Sargeant. He said that it varies from Dept to Dept and the hours you worked in the week in your regular Officer role comes into play.

Go to a smaller church ... that might explain why big churches will gladly pay cops to direct traffic
