I'll be moving to the Houston area and would like to buy a non-cookie cutter home. The desirable areas inside the Loop were snatched up by the high-falluting Californians and are too expensive. Where can I find a similar mud-Century home in the $300-400k range? I will be working from home, so won't have s big commute.

Much of the area around Hobby Airport is low income and Hispanic. If you like Mexican food you can find some good stuff. there's also Frank's Diner.

Some nearby cool neighborhoods are Garden Villas and Glenbrook Valley; the latter is known for its well-cared for 1950s homes. Garden Villas is a bit older and has some nice homes too.

Isn't there also Meadowbrook just the other side of the Gulf Freeway?

Isn't Timbergrove Manor a westside neighborhood, or is it a different Timbergrove?

Idylwood is a nice-looking neighborhood. My relatives say its hilliness reminds them of Pennsylvania!

Glenbrook Valley is an awesome neighborhood if you don't need the schools. I also think it is not anywhere near a real quality grocery store which is a practical issue.

Your thinking of Tanglewood close the Galleria. Timbergorve Manor is inside the loop on the North West corner close to the 610 and 290
