I will recommend UT Austin to anyone. Both of my sons went there. The career placement office for Mccombs (Business) and Cockrell (Engineering) is excellent.

I read some bad reviews about Lone Star too. But it may fit you, though. People have their own requirements.

I went to Houston Community College (mostly west-loop campus) prior to going to UH. It was cheap and convenient.

Why not try UH-Clear Lake. It's in a nice part of town, you can find an inexpensive but safe place to live and the instruction there is likely to be much better than the CCs.

Great advice! It will not be easy to find an inexpensive place close to HCC campuses in safe parts of town. Clear Lake area is good and UH Clear Lake is a great school. I would take a very serious look at this over San Jac or HCC.
