I am in the market for a pool builder too, so I will appreciate comments and/or recommendations.

We built a pool with Supreme Pools and Spas in Northwest Houston. We got bids from 4 different companies and they were the best priced. They also did an excellent job.

Supreme Pools & Spa

They were affordable, fast, and have so far been extremely reliable in follow up calls. I had a small leak in one of the components and they came out the next day to fix it after I had called.

We just had a pool put in with Houston Pool Design. It's a smaller company and I feel we've had great service and quality.

What size is your pool and how much did you pay? Does it have a waterfall, grotto, etc. ? We want to have one installed in the Conroe area, maybe with below water line stools, but don't have a price reference. thanks

Our pool was a "free form" lagoon style pool. We did not do pebble tech and stuck with the normal plaster. We did regular chlorination as well. We have a 3 ton stone waterfall, 8' spa with blower, heater, moss rock along the back of the pool, stone coping, stone inlays in the decking, a stone "beach" entry, and about 500 sq. ft. of pea gravel decking. Our pool is approx. 36 x 19, is about 6' deep (we did a sports or volleyball pool where its deeper in the middle, and shallow at both ends).

We got quotes from 36K to 48K. Supreme was the 36K quote.

Our pool is also a free form shape with a huge (11'x6') spa. The size of the pool is 19'x34'. The deep end is 6' deep. It has a 6' underwater bench in the deep end also. It is heated and we have Hayward equipment. We have slate tile inside, brick coping, and about 500 SF of peagravel decking. It cost us $33,000. It all adds up quickly, ours is pretty standard- no fancy upgrades. It's gorgeous though!

Note, when getting quotes, they almost always want to put extra decking. This is one of the easiest ways to shave off cost is to be more effecient in your decking. Very few people need 1000 sq ft of decking. We easily cut that in half. Also, buy putting plant bedding on one side of the pool, it eliminates the need to deck all the way around. That is some of the highest margin for pool contractors is decking.

Thanks for all your info!! and as a comforting thought, the price for paradise is what we were planning, so we didn't give ourselves a bunch of "blue sky"
and get the big surprise later. And great idea about utilizing plants vs concrete.
