It's generally accepted that as long as it's not a switch blade or butterfly knife and it's under a 5.5" blade you can carry whatever you want in Houston or in Texas for that matter.

In the state of Texas, your car is an extension of your home.

You can carry a firearm inside as long as it remains conceded. Keep in mind you cannot carry the firearm with you without a CHL.

Don't bring knife to a gunfight. All criminals here carry firearms.

Yes, you can keep knife in your car. As previous users said, your car legally is an extension of your house.

But of course I would better keep .357Mag revolver, loaded not necessarily with magnum rounds.

There are Texas state and local laws that govern what knives are legal to carry in your vehicle and on your person.

There are also distinctions on the type of knife that can make a difference between remaining free and becoming an inmate.

It would be a wise idea to know what is allowed and what can get someone arrested and charged with a felony offense.

Link:

PENAL CODE CHAPTER 46. WEAPONS

Here is another link which demonstrates what happens when someone does this the illegal (read "underinformed") way:

Man carrying knife at 7-Eleven slapped with felony | KXAN.com

Best to be informed on what these laws say; this is not something anyone should have to learn the hard way, because the police and sheriffs don't play around when they see weapons in the hands of someone who does not know what is legal and what is not, and a state trooper will slap handcuffs on you before you can even finish asking "Say what?"

There are also laws about carrying guns in your vehicle - lot of bad information on this on the Errornet, including here.

You can ruin your life being arrested and thrown in jail for this kind of mistake, lose your job, etc. KNOW your rights.

If you don't want to carry a firearm, you'd be better off carrying a small can of pepper spray than a knife. Make sure it is the gel kind so that it will be hard for the carjacker to rub it out of his eyes.

In the UK you might was well pack some lube so the criminal can just have his way with you. They have wussified that entire nation, it is being overrun.
