I'm renting a two bedrooms condominium in an older community in Greenway Plaza area. I live in the far back of the community. Once I moved in I was informed about all the pet rules. First there is tons of foliage around the community, but no grass. I was informed by a neighbor that the dog isn't allowed to go to the bathroom ANYWHERE on the property or in front of it. So I proceed and take my dog out the front, down the street to a patch of grass about a half block every time. I have a small 8 pound dog thats 10 years old and way past potty trained. I receive a letter in the mail stating it was a warning. A warning for my dog going to the bathroom outside. I called the management and was told they have had multiple complaints about my dog being in the foliage. I then tell her my dog does chase lizards but that's it, she was fine and acted like she gets these calls all the time. So my question is are they allowed to not have somewhere at all to take your dogs to the bathroom, if they allow pets? My neighbor said they even gave her a letter for her dogs going to the bathroom in front of the condominiums. I know in my old apartments they had to have somewhere designated for pets. Also could they fine me for my dog chasing lizards in the foliage?

Thanks for you help. I now carry my dog from my condominium to the patch of grass every time. I just don't think this is fair for anyone to have to do.

Don't get your info from your neighbor. Your condo declaration will likely tell you the answer. If not then go to the condo management or HOA and ask for pet regulations. Ask them where you should go with your dog. Since, obviously this is a pet friendly community, they probably have designated pet area nearby. Get it in writing.

Do you let your dog just poop in the grass, or you pick-up after your dog??
Pretty much anywhere you go, you MUST pick-up after your dog. Maybe that is the issue??

BTW:
Poo Prints, has developed the technology for finding the owners who won’t clean up after their dogs. Many condo and apartment communities around the United States have begun implementing their services. Dogs residing within these communities must submit to a blood test to get their DNA into the system. Owners who don’t clean up after their dog may be held accountable for their efforts, or rather the lack of effort. Complexes and housing communities in forty-three states are currently utilizing this service.

Is the owner out of the country or something? If they are not totally absentee, I would let them know if was bad of them not to furnish you with the rules the owner has to abide by....which means having a tenant that abides by them. If you have to leave, be sure to get those rules in advance next place.

I always pick up after my dog that is not the issue. Asking if they could fine me for her getting in the foliage? Also I thought they had to have a designated area for pets if they allow them? I will definitely be asking my owner for the rules because I wasn't given them, thanks.
