Heavy rains have shutdown many roads, including Katy Fwy. Stay put...

Yep, just drove in. Katy Freeway ok from beltway 8 but it looked like its closed at the 610. Abandoned cars everywhere on the feeder esp at 8 and on major roads. Chimney rock had most traffic lights out and 10 or 15 abandoned cars blocking lanes with three cars partially blocking the Chimney Rock Memorial intersection.

it was an absolute nightmare out there tonight...a normal 25 minute drive from the grand parkway/westpark toll to downtown took me 5 hours tonight....I unfortunately had to go to work because my employer doesnt have a weather contingency in place, and Im a shift worker... but that will be discussed today.

I was stuck on the westpark toll at fondren for 1 hour 40 minutes due to high water.....when the constables let the traffic through, from the overpass going to 59 north, water was on both sides of 59 at westpark and both feeder roads...it was eerie...cars pulled over as far as the eye can see

getting on 59, there was no cars at all in either direction due to flooding....59 under 610 west was super flooded, as was the 610 west and south overpass....I stayed right there for nearly an hour, and then a barrage of cars and 18 wheelers started coming, and the 18 wheel drivers became very aggressive, honking their horns, and blinking lights at people to get out of the way....

finally, after 1 hour and 30 minutes, I decided to chance the high water on 610 ramp and got through it...i have a truck and water was up to the bottom of my door....when I got on 610 south heading toward NRG stadium, I immediately saw the feeder roads were flooded..bellaire, fournance, beechnut...etc...

riding along the 610 curve, brays bayou was so far out of its bank till its not even funny... I know they built the new drainage ditch at the corner of breaswood/610, but that water was clear onto the road, into the apartment complex and every other business over there.....

610 feeder roads at stella link, south main, kirby, fannin, almeada and 288 were all in passable...there were so many stranded cars on the road, till its not funny....

I had to keep going down 610 and got off at the telelphone road exit to get some gas...I was on 1/4 of a tank by then......I filled up, got back on 610 west going back toward reliant and got off at scott st...I made a right, went through some deep water for a block and a half, but it was smooth sailing the rest of the way past UH up to 45...

I made the left under the freeway, got on 45 north and circled around to I-10 east and got off on mckee...rode the bridge over the bayou, was right there a minute maid park, navigated the streets to get to my building.....

I started out at 1112 from my house and finally made it into my office at 405, nearly 5 hours later...

Crazy man...

hopefully, mass employers will allow their workers to have the day off because its dangerous out there...nearly every exit on 59 610 and I-10 are completely covered in water, and I cant see anyone getting down here unless they did something similar to what I did....

unless of course, you like 5 hour trips to work

Default Damn!

^^^ Now that sucks!

We moved closer to the office less than two years ago to avoid commutes, traffic, but my wife went to work early this morning and saw many stranded vehicles on 69 at 6:00; at some point last night 69 at Dunlavy was under water and lots of cars stranded down there.

Also, my kids had only until Thursday for school, but HISD cancelled all classes, now they have to make it up on Friday. 'Can't lose that last buck! I'm only 4.5 miles from work, but can't make it. HA!

Rained hard for about 5 straight hours in Sugar Land. Lighting was incredible. My son couldn't get home from work, so I got the truck around 11:30 and took a half hour drive for what normally takes three minutes to go and pick him up.

The roads are still a mess, and some waterways in the city are expected to flood as there is rain north of Houston. I'm sure if you told your clients you could not come in given the circumstances, they'd more than understand.

Thanks!! It looks pretty bad on our local news. What if I plan it so I get there this evening around 7ish? Wish I had the option of canceling my trip but I don't unfortunately
