Just a quick background.
My daughter is entering kindergarten and is Vanguard qualified. She's of Chinese/Vietnamese decent but we primary speak English at home, so her Chinese speaking is almost non existent.

We're zoned to Condit Elem and was accepted to the Mandarin Chinese Immersion School. Both HISD.

Condit is the "academically better" school of the two, but the learning the Chinese language will benefit her greatly.

Which would you guys pick? We're very torn.

You can try the Mandarin Chinese Immersion School for K, and if you don't like it, go to Condit for later grades.

Ours is the same Chinese/Vietnamese ethnicity. We plan on enrolling in the "academically better" West U. Elem school and will look for external Chinese language programs after school or on weekends. Will be interested in what you decide.

Which one is closer to home? Is it the new Chinese Immersion or the one close to Bellaire?
A friend of mine decided to go with the "better" school which requires her to drive an extra 15 mins in the morning traffic, waking up the family earlier, and also 15 mins extra for pick up. After 1 year, she has enough of it and switched her kid back to the closer school.
