Hello everyone.

My family plans to move to Philly for the 2012 school year. We are looking for a Chinese immersion program for my 4 yo or at least an IB candidate school.... Does anyone know of such?

Thanks

Finding a school anywhere in the U.S. which provides a formal mandarin immersion process for a 4 year old is a tough call. Suggest contact these 2 sources, which might be able to steer you in an appropriate direction. The 1st source is a lottery based charter kindergarten/grade school (age 5+), which is tuition free. The 2nd source is essentially a multi-cultural pre school.

Also, you might contact the following University of Pennsylvania organization for help: CSSAP - Chinese Students and Scholars Association at Penn

Thanks acenturi... I called The two schools above a few weeks ago....The charter schools lottery is a long shot ( but we will still keep it in mind), and the Chinatown schools is more ESOL focused.

We are moving from Atlanta where my LO has been enrolled in Mandarin immersion for 2.5 years and we were hoping to find another International school. If anyone knows at least of an IB PYP candidate school, I'd love to know of it.

Alternatively I'd just pay for a private tutor/nanny so recommendations for that would be appreciated also!

It's also worth looking into cyber schools to see if maybe they would or could offer such a program. They probably could offer one online if you are willing to pay for software package itself as they may not have the funds or the student interest to do/offer one otherwise.

PA has a few cyber schools and there are private ones you could sign up for too.
