i live in south new jersey looking to relocate. i have been reading and trying to educate myself where i would like to live. i read so many blogs about houston and if i was able to pack right now & move there i would. i just don't know where to start looking. i am a single 40yr old woman & i have a 9yr old son i have to worry about, like the schools and the best place to buy a house. i am due for a vacation so i would like to come down and start looking around but i don't know where to start. could someone just direct me the right way please? thank you

You need to give a price range. Houston can be both very affordable if you are willing to drive, to cost prohibitive near its core. Its a huge city and where you work also determines where you need to live. There are good schools IN the city and outside the city.

Just based on what you told us, I will once again do what so many others do and recomend the Woodlands. Everything is there. Everything you could ever want. It is beautiful. Why dont you locate the thread on this forum that has a hundred pictures of Woodlands as well as many other places surrounding the Houston area. You will enjoy those pics. It will give you an insight to every day life there.

I would say it depends on what part of town you think you will be employed in. Once you know where your employer is, then I would pick an area. The city is big and the drive can be a major grind if you live totally opposite your employment site.
