We have a family with 3 young children and are considering relocating to gulf coast of Texas. My husband is originally from CA. We are currently living in WI. We love the ocean and miss it living here in WI. I can't take the winters any more. I would rather be hot than cold! I am in graduate school for occupational therapy. Anyone have any information on cities, schools, crime? Personal favorites for family friendly locations?

La Marque Texas City city is a nice area since you have children do not move to Galveston the schools suck there the areas along main land right along the coast are nice.

I would move farther inland where you can still be close to the coast. I would try for League City, Kemah or Seabrook - near the bay, clear lake (excellent schools) and plenty of activities for the kids. It's a short drive to Galveston from those cities. You'll find that Galveston is not a "pretty" beach and living in what is called Bay Area Houston (League City, Seabrook, Kemah, Clear Lake) is a nicer area with nicer amenties and schools.
