So we're looking at moving back to Houston this coming spring. We're wanting good schools and an area that we can buy a house with a decent size piece of property. We don't want a house in a subdivision if we can help it. I've heard good things about Katy and Friendswood but don't know much about Barber's Hill ISD. What can you tell me or what areas can you suggest that might meet what we're looking for? Thanks in advance..

If you want the best school district its Friendswood, then Katy, then Barbers Hill.

If you want affordability of the house, then its Barbers Hill, Friendswood, Katy.

If you want acreage at an affordable price its Barbers Hill only.

Katy is all master planned community homes, on smaller lots with good schools.

Friendswood is a mix of master planned homes, older homes, and some acreage lots with excellent schools.

Barbers Hill is a mix of everything with good schools.

Friendswood or Barber's Hill. Friendswood if you want to be close to big chain restaurants and grocery stores. If you want peace and quiet and don't mind driving 20 minutes to get to CVS, then Barber's Hill. Both have some serious positives.

Mont Belvieu is about 60 miles west of Beaumont / 85 from Orange.
It sits right next to Baytown.

Pardon my ignorance/curiosity.
Why is this area called the Golden Triangle? Does it imply something Positive/Negative?
I too have been sorta interested in picking Barbers Hill ISD as a place to move to in the Houston area, but am hesitating because I am not sure about the impact of hurricanes.

Barbers Hill isn't in the Golden Triangle, which is just a nickname for the Beaumont-Port Arthur-Orange metro area that is 90 minutes to the east.
