I am updating my 12 yr old bike tires. Any recommendations on where I can get new ones? Is Bike Barn the only option?

I find bike barn the best option. Yes. Sun and Ski Sport is really good with bikes bought from there.

I second Bike Barn; not sure what you consider cheap, but I got two hybrid tires and tubes from them a few months ago for my Trek and was pleased with them. I think I paid about 30-40 a tire, but I recall they had some that started at about 15 a tire.

Rubber tires wear out in 10 years, so may get some decent ones. I've used Bike Barn, Bike Sport, and the Montrose Bike shop on Taft.

Bike Barn is going to be your go-to local chain store...

Otherwise your neighborhood/region or burb probably has a few local bike stores with the same type of enthusiast workers who will help you out just as well if not better.

Good option. Or if you're on FB join 'Houston Bikelist' people post stuff on there all the time. You can pick up really nice, hardly used tires for cheap because someone wants to upgrade.

Performance Bikes on Westheimer and Hillcroft is my go to store. They also have a store on 1960. They are the biggest online retailer in the USA so they can beat most local shops on prices.

Performance Bikes was DH's recommendation as well, specifically on price.

Performance does a sale on Tuesdays between noon and 2:00 where you get an extra 10% off of most things which helps a little if that time and their store is convenient for you. Probably not be worth it to save a couple of dollars on tires if you have to make a special trip.
