While more costly, I'd recommend taxicabs for evening transport rather than busses.

dunno if it is really that short. that cab ride will set you back 20-25 dollars each way

Uptown / Galleria is more walkable than it gets credit for, even if Westheimer is awfully wide to cross (McCue and Sage are the best crossings). Unless the weather is terrible, it's probably better to walk within the area than spring for a taxi.

The Uptown District is working to make it even more walkable too. How many places in Houston actually have pedestrian night lighting?
