recommend a good family place to visit this new year (10 hour drive max)

i've been to san antonio.

from around dec 30 to jan 3..

i was thinking arkansas, oklahoma but i dont know if there is anything there worth driving around 10 hours..

OK then. Well, you mentioned Arkansas and Eureka Springs is on our list of places to go. I've never been but I've heard very enticing things about it. Not sure if it would fit under your driving time limit, would need to peek at a map.

Fort Davis / Marfa / Alpine. Go to a "star party" at the McDonald Observatory. Big Bend is a couple hours down the road. Take warm clothes, it's chilly at higher elevations that time of year. I once spent New Year's in Fort Davis.

what exactly is there during new year's eve.. why would we want to go there..

Didn't realize you wanted places that have some sort of specific New Year's event. FWIW, we had a nice dinner at the Hotel Olympia, they were going to have a live band for the party later, but we just went back to the hotel.
