I get a summons 2-3 times a yr but can discredit some for summoning me too often. My SO has never in 7 yrs been up for duty... i got another one coming up and im seriously considering throwing it in the trash. 1 it arrived at an old address. I wouldnt have got it except i know the people. My voters reg and DL do not use that old address. 2 They didnt even get my full name right.

Its borderline harassment imo and im certainly not randomly selected. If they dont use your legal name that is on your DL and everything else and dont send it to your home are you really expected to show? If im the one person to get in trouble for skipping duty i have a pretty good reason right? The people in my old house are probably getting sick of it and will be tossing it themselves soon

Always amazed more people do not do that - - as it is obvious that will easily get you dismissed. Surprisingly, most people (once there) take the process, and how they are perceived, seriously. At least from what I have seen in the four/five times I have been called-up....

Or, "My uncle is a police officer, and I'm just happy to be on the jury so we can lock up more of the criminals."

I just go my 2nd one in mail in the same yr first one I was able to get out of get out of since I had been a juror in the last 3yr. This time I can not get out of it :mad : someone in my family is getting one of these waste of time every yr and some people only get them once every 10yrs. Now I wish I never registered to vote. Is there anyway I can get out of this one

You rarely get fined for bailing on jury duty.

Would you rather goto work and make $20+ a hr or goto jury duty and sit there for 2 to 4 hr then get called for a panel or maybe not even get called at all and only make $5 for your time. I see why people would rather bail than so up for jury duty should be $10 to $12 a hr

Hmm, I'm a salaried employee so my company pays me if I go to jury duty. But I could see where it would be tough on hourly folks. Anyways, I've been here almost 4 years and haven't been summoned once. My wife got a notice once, but it would have been around the time our baby was due so she got her doctor to write a note to get her excused. Nobody wants a pregnant woman having a baby in the courtroom.
