Can someone tell me how the drinking water is in Katy and Fulshear? Do most drink from the faucet/tap or do most have a bottled water service?

Thanks.

We drank it from our filtered fridge for a glass of water, but used the tap for all other water uses. (cooking, making tea, cleaning etc...)

What if the fridge doesn't have a filtered water dispenser? Maybe a filter for the kitchen faucet or get bottled water delivered?

It tasted fine, you might just need a Brita pitcher if you are picky.

I don't know about Katy/Fulshear specifically, but a lot of tap water in Houston area is very hard. While it's clean, and I use it for cooking, sans filter, I buy purified water for drinking. After seeing all the lime build up around my taps, I rather not consume it, even if there's no evidence of adverse health effects.

You should worry about drinking water from Tap if it contains more than the prescribed amount of mercury and arsenic. As a chemical engineer living in Katy who monitors the water quality test sent twice a year by Severn Trent (servicing Katy), I can say that the %age of these metals is well below the prescribed levels. Having said that I still have water filter for my faucet and fridge. Drinking hard water does not affect one's health (it's a myth).
Drinking bottle water is actually bad for the environment and icing on the cake is that it is actually equal or lesser in quality than the water you get in your tap. When I say lesser: Bottle water companies take water from the same source that you get at your home. They filter it which is good but they remove useful minerals that are naturally dissolved in water, bottle it and sell it. Some companies add beneficial minerals after filtration (for which they charge you extra - they remove it and then artificially add it).
I am not against bottle water - i use it when i travel, but what i hate is these companies giving false advertisements.
End of the day - you decide what you you think is good for your family. Cheers!!!

Great response. Thanks! My fridge's dispenser has stopped working and it's going to cost half as much as the new fridge is worth. Tap water all the way for me !
