Get some salt water trout. Speckled trout are delicious.

Why not NY?

Well regardless, hope you're enjoying your trip back to your hometown and the cooler weather.

Pretty much sums up my situation

Yes, I am from the east coast, as is my husband, but this kind of thinking makes me so sad. Most of the alumni of my alma mater are also from the east coast, and I doubt many of them have even been to Houston, but automatically, they judge. I am tired of having to justify where I live to people who obviously have no clue in the first place.

We love where we are, and right now I honestly can't think of any reason why we would try on purpose to move back east out of Houston. Some of you may be, and that is fine and your choice. But to just automatically assume we want to leave, well, come on now.

It just made me bitter. That is all.
I would guess almost everyone gets asked the same question when they go back home to visit - I know I do. To friends and acquaintances who ask, my response is something along the lines of "no - moving to Houston has been one of the best things I've ever done." To family, I focus on the boon it has been to my career.

I just can't imagine a Houstonian picking Philadelphia over New York City.

Homegirl could probably fit in my closet here in the Man Cave, FWIW...

I was just talking with a couple who just relocated to Houston earlier this week from Miami. I guess i was expecting them to have negative impressions of Houston. "I asked the guy, I'm sure you're thinking this is a step down from MIAMI huh?" He said, "No, actually its a step up. Houston's bigger than Miami and has really came up and probably even surpassed Miami in everything except the beach. "

Let's just say, I was surprised to hear him say that to say the least.
