It will only take 1 hurricane to destroy millions of dollars put into it.

Another question came to my mind. How in the world do they keep the water clean?! Unless,.... it's not as clean as the photos are showing.

Sorry but Houston is an "Engineering city"
The second you propose an idea, a lot of us instantly are gonna tell you the 3 top reasons why it is not possible to do it.
We do that for a living

Tropical Islands - Europe's largest tropical holiday world - YouTube!
A nice place to go during the long, cold, rainy or snowy days in Winter.
Of course that doesn't apply to Houston where we enjoy Summer weather most of the year.
LOL wow that looks lame

It's obviously possible, seeing as how the concept exists.

I'm a dreamer, and I know that we're a rare breed in this city.

Unfortunately, lots of dreamers in the city...just learn to generate funding.

As usual... news articles only give 1/2 of the information

http://www.golberz.com/2013/03/world...ming-pool.html

Estimated maintenance costs are around $3 million dollars annually. It uses water from the ocean with special controlled filtration system. It contains 66 million gallons of sea water. The pool opened in December 2006. It took nearly five years of construction work to build such an amazing object like this one. To get the idea of the gigantic size of the pool we note that hotel guests can use small boats to navigate its waters. They can also go diving, because of its 35 meters (100ft) deepest end.
