After a while a restaurants volume may go down...not bad to sell if the property value goes way up.

They sold it a while ago. Not near the peak of the market. I thought Vargos was over rated.

wasn't this the same philosophy in the 70s and 80s that ultimately brought down nice middle class areas in Houston? People in Houston don't need that much housing...

Hunington Properties reveals plans for Vargo's on the Lake multifamily project - Houston Business Journal
was wondering how they crammed 261-units on such a small property.

tearing down Maryland Manor Apts on 1717 Bissonnet Street, replacing it with a 21-story tower in a low density residential area.

Houston also appears to have approved an 18-story office tower "2229 San Felipe" in another residential area. And Chateau Ten Condos adjacent to it also coming on 2221 Welch St.

Agreed no need for all these transient people who build no sense of community. Already population density is 3,372 people per square mile, soon people will be crawling all over each other.

The developers run this city, no reason for any of these massive apartment towers, or office space so far in the middle of nowhere.

Hey Jaque, if you don't like towers and apartments, the city probably isn't for you.

Actually there is a huge need for more housing in Houston because of our rapid growth. Seemss kind of obvious. Bissonett and San Felipe are hardly "in the middle of nowhere".

I don't have a problem with office towers It's Hines that just now bothered to inform area residents they are building an office tower on what was formerly residential property. Exactly why was a residential home secretly rezoned to office space without public consent?

The 21-story Ashby apartment tower, the roads in the area are designed for low density traffic, not to accommodate massive apartments. Bissonnet is only two lanes total and a distance from a main road like Kirby. There are more logistical places to build high rise apartments but Houston has an established history of cramming apartment residents right beside rich people.

San Felipe is a long ways from US-59. Compared to Uptown, the Greenway Plaza, and Dowtown it is in the middle of nowhere.

Then explain why DFW has grown faster than Houston in the past 30 years even though more people in DFW live in single family homes, Houston used to be the superior city, now its home to transients.
