I was just wondering, being that Houston has the top economic climate in the nation, can you feel it in the air there??? Meaning, do the people have an aura about them not felt elsewhere ??? Is there a positivity in the environment that carries from person to person ??? IMO, it must be like knowing you are the best city when you live in Houston and I would think it probably resonates within the people that live there, is this true ????

Maybe. I have been here a long time - so I personally do not notice anything. However, the thing that transplant clients have said - numerous times - is how they are struck by the upbeatness of Houstonians, compared with where they came from. So, yeah, I guess.

I personally think Houston is going to be the **** when I get there. I will be looking for a job immediately though, I am a barber, I should contact some barbershops. I can do any kind of work though in the service industries, I am guessing it shouldn't be that hard to find a job in Houston compard to most cities even if it's just a minimum wage job to hold me over at first. I have found a nice little room to rent around U of H for $400 per month. That's perfect for me.

That's sounds like it will be interesting...that area does not exude upbeat, well, much of anything.

It depends on the area. People paint over the area around UH with too wide a brush

Having moved from Florida to Houston, I can tell you the job opportunities are significantly better in Texas. In Florida, more folks are struggling to get by. You hear stories all the time of someone losing their home, job, or other hardships related to the lack of employment opportunties. Some folks are taking whatever job they can get even if it is less than desirable and much lower pay. So, to address your aura question, there is more of a sense of desperation in Florida compared to Texas. However, that's not to say there are not some folks here having economic hardships. I know the media wants to paint this picture of job utopia in Texas, but let me be the first to tell you it ain't what it used to be. Folks are struggling here too just not as bad as Florida.
