I like my HEB. Good meat selection, good lobster, good everything if you ask me. And every time we had a hurricane they were the first ones to open or last ones to close the store, where the other stores around were missing in action. I am a loyal HEB shopper

While we are sharing Trader Joes chocolate croissants (frozen) are heavenly. Take them out the freezer the night before, chuck them on a cookie sheet. The next morning they will have risen like pillows of flakey, chocolatey yumminess. Bake for 20 mins and voila. Nom nom nom as the young 'uns say
P.S. hubby liked the almond ones but he's weird like that!

The almond ones are OK - the chocolate is worth driving across town for.
As to a closer store, HEB is my favorite, too. I also don't have to dig out the little card they all want, to get the discounts.

Yeh, I love HEB, but nothing beats Trader Joes. This is from somebody that HATES to grocery shop. Trader Joes is actually fun.
Here's the difference: I go into HEB because I have to - and it's the least onerous choice. I actually LOVE going into TJ's. They have different stuff, the employees seem casual and relaxed and helpful, and they have ample cash registers available. I could do a Houston commercial. TJ - call me! LOL

Me too, HEB is my weekly shop but Trader Joes is my 'special stuff' shop. I make a day of it and hit Phoenecia, Trader Joes, Whole Foods and The British Isles Store for all my favourite goodies
