I disagree with him saying that, FWIW.

I would go with the Green Trails area. Great resale there and as growth continues out west, you will feel closer to town.

I do wish a lot of these unincorporated areas in Houston were in actual cities so there could be better planning. There are too many driveways into retail centers, hardly any sidewalks in many areas, too many lights on wires, etc. Maybe management districts need to be formed for these areas, so they can put more planning into the infrastructure. Things like sidewalks can go a long way to improving a community.

There is no basis whatsoever when you look at the facts. (Looks like he lives in California and just trollz around the Houston board.)

I have a few friends there... if anything it seems to almost be a seller's market, particularly in certain neighborhoods.

Do the forum search '77079' for any and all info you need. Investment wise, it's likely your best bet. Bear in mind all those ugly businesses between Kirkwood and Eldridge are your local banks, grocery stores, gyms, resturaunts, bars, dry cleaners, doctors, pet grooming, flower shops, coffee shops, etc, etc, etc all within walking distance or a minutes drive not to mention you're minutes from I-10 and Westhiemer shopping. When Memorial Drive is rebuilt it will hid some of those eyesores and some will be improved.

Once you've lived in Houston awhile you'll come to realize, much like the city itself, you don't judge a business by it's outward appearence. It's what I call 'the charm of Houston'!

Default Ugly Hodgepoge on south Mason Road.

The reason for the Hodgepodge look of South Mason Road is because it is in Harris County and follows the Harris County Zoning laws which are very liberal compared to Fort Bend County. I have noticed recently a demographic shift starting. For example a Frankensteins restaurant just closed its doors only to be replaced by a Taqueria Arandas. Now Mason road even has a Laundromat, Carniceria, Massage parlor, Check cashing store, $3.99 haircut places etc.

This is completely untrue. It can't be compared to the hot areas inside the city, for example, but is probably better than most of the Houston suburbs.

Your profile says your location is a zip code in southern California. What is the purpose for all of your activity in the Houston forum, and on what basis do you claim to get your knowledge about the real estate market or anything else specific to the Houston area?

I have been told this as well -- unincorporated Fort Bend County is better/nicer than unincorporated Harris County. And from a lot of what I've seen, I'd agree.

South Mason Road would be so much nicer if a couple of old strip centers would remodel, if they would get rid of all the sinage and start maintainting the grass medians and esplanades. Oh, and enforce that the owners of the strip centers maintain their landscape. Harris County has very lax enforcement and that is whamakes it look so bad.
