I'll be in Houston for three days mid January and wanted some suggestions on places to go. I'll be alone and I'm female. I will be visiting hospitals for future employment and taking notes on where to live. I don't really want to do anything extravagent as I am alone and more of the sporty type. Any parks that are prefered over others? Museums worth seeing over others? Fun things to do?

Day 1: Houston > Zoo? Galleria?
Day 2: Sugarland/Katy
Day 3: League City? I would also like to see this part of TX because it is near the water.

Thank you in advance

There's nothing really to see in Houston as its not a tourist hub but there's a lot to do.

Herman Park is very pretty. The Museums, both art and science are great. The area around Rice University is gorgeous.

The shopping is kinda cheap compared to NYC and LA.

NASA. San Jacinto monument. That's about it, really.

Nightlife is superb though. It's a mix of Vegas and New Orleans. Glam and sloppy LOL

True ^ When my friends from NY came down, they were went to NASA, Kemah and Galveston, but they were more interested in talking and eating instead of being a tourist. We have the best food in town, I mean by having a lot of variety and choices. And the best time to come to Houston is this 2-3 months.

So I am a Houston native. If you want parks I recommend Discovery Green. It's Downtown and it's great. If you want Museums, we have a pretty awesome Museum District but more specifically there is the Rothko Chapel, the Contemporary Art Museum, The Menil Collection, and of course the MFAH. There is the Museum of Natural Science and we have a really awesome Asian Art museum.

Miller Outdoor Theater always has free events going on so check that place out. Houston Zoo is cool. I've been burnt out on the zoo between me, my girlfriend, and my daughter. But it's pretty cool. Then you have our theatre district. Hobby Center, Jones Hall, Wortham Center, and of course the Alley Theatre.

Now being a native Houstonian, I'm suppose to like Galveston. But I have been to the beaches of Destin, Miami, Pensacola, and others and I can say that I hate the way Galveston looks. If you wanna go just for a beachy feel then please do. But if you have been anywhere in the US and you have seen white beaches you will be disappointed by Galveston.
