Lets try to keep this one on topic:

Any way to find out which vendors / what inventory will be available at the show? It's being held at the GRB center, so it should be pretty big....

I bought an AR-15 on Tuesday and have been trying to buy another since but haven't had any luck finding a shop that has any in stock.

I imagine the prices will be a little over the top also, which is keeping me away.

I looked at their website and they did not list the vendors who will be there...

Good luck!

I've been wondering about this for a while and also a few friends from other states that have come to visit me.

How many gun shows are held there a year?
Why so many?
Do people really buy guns/rifles every month?

They have quite a few from what I've gathered... maybe one every other month? Lots of people do buy guns pretty frequently -- and you have to remember Houston is one of the biggest cities in the country (and I'd wager has more guns than any other city, considering the other 'big' cities are much more liberal).

I didn't understand it at first, but the more I've thought about it the more I have started to view guns as an investment above everything else. My grandfather had 30 - 40 when he passed away, and I can promise you every one of them was worth several times what he had paid for them. Now, I wouldn't recommend converting your 401k into guns and nothing else, but getting a few for appreciation isn't a bad idea either.

Quesiton for gun collectors:

If you collect guns for years but never actually use them, will they work properly...say after 20-25 years? If not, do you have to take them somewhere to get them oiled or something?

Of course they will work mate. Just keep them oiled up and rust free and you will be fine

Just keep them lubricated and they'll be good. People have working guns from the revolutionary war -- a good gun will literally last hundreds of years.

On that note -- I'd never buy a cheap gun just to save a few hundred bucks. They won't appreciate and may only last a few hundred rounds, whereas a well manufactured gun (Colt, S&W, Winchester, etc) will be such that your grandkids are fighting over it when you're long gone.
