Hey everyone I am getting a serious job offer in the Houston area and am currently looking into places to live. I'd work a bit south of Bush Airport around 8 and 59 and am trying to find a decent neighborhood with nice affordable apartments that would be within an hour of there and within reach of some sort of nightlife. I have been recommended to Houston Heights area but that seems a little more expensive than the rest of Houston. I definitely would like something cheaper but would consider the $800's any tips?

Nightlife wouldn't be great, but you could definitely find places in your budget in the local suburbs surrounding your work site. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about that area, but others should be. Spring would be within range, and I imagine Humble would be even closer. But, as I said, you should ask others for advice.

If you're interested in nightlife, you probably want to be in the downtown area. But Montrose/downtown/etc. are a little out of your price range. Most places in that area are starting closer to $1000 or higher -- unless you're willing to sacrifice everything else. I had a friend who lived in a 400 sq. ft. studio downtown in the historic Rice Hotel for around $900.
