hi everybody

I am new to Houston and had moved to take up new job. Soon my family (my wife and 5 month old baby)will be joining me, before they join I have to find a apartment.

I am looking for 2 bedroom 2 bath apartments in range of $1100-$1200 in a safe area. My office is located on Dacoma Street.

Can you guys advice in which area and which apartment communities should I consisder. Also I like my commute to be not more than 30 minutes. Also let me know if my price range is reasonable.

I had done search on apartments.com and craiglist but i got confused as I dont have any idea about traffic or area.

Thanks in advance.

I would get an apartment in Cypress if you have a family. Or in Jersey Village. Those areas are more family friendly. Dacoma is a fine area to work, but I would go a bit further west down 290 for my place to live. Traffic is bad on 290, but you won't be going all the way into town, so it shouldn't be terrible. I couldn't comment on a specific complex, but they are building more and more new apartment complexes as the area matures.

I would say Jersey Village and the area around West Road and the Beltway. Decent commute.

A reverse commute from somewhere around the Timbergrove Manor area would not be bad either. You could take surface streets to work.

I know it's already March but have you found a place yet? Which one and are you satisfied there? Just curious!
