Got a speeding ticket by Texas Dept of Public Safety on Westheimer Parkway. Court is set to Precinct 5 over on Clay Road. Any recommendation for a lawyer. Used Kubosh in the past and he barely got me off after a 5 hour wait at the court house.

Were you speeding? If so, don't you think you should just pay the ticket?

It's his god given right to speed, we need to stamp out liberal big government interference on our freedoms.

Isn't it cheaper just to pay the ticket or do defensive driving than hire a lawyer? I can't remember the last time I got a ticket but I thought they were only like $150 or $200.

lawyers are typically around $75-$80 and will usually get the ticket DISMISSED...if you pay the ticket outright, then it still goes on your record, which means insurance rates go up....and if you do defensive driving, it still costs more cause you pay court costs/defensive driving/copy of your driving record....another option is deferred adjudication (probation), but that's solely up to the judge if he/she wants to offer that.

last time i got a speeding ticket several years ago, i just hired one of the lawyers that solicited their service by mail....i'm sure you'll start receiving letters from attorney offices soon.

That's what I thought, too. Unless you are flying by in a Ferrari at 200mph and you got a massive ticket, it seems more cost AND TIME efficient to pay and just get it over with. Don't you have to appear in court to contest a ticket? I don't make a lot of money by any means, actually I am on the low end. But if I have to take of half a day of work, I have blown more than what the ticket would have cost. And then there is the issue of wasted time... missed work... gas... overall effort...

Uh, if you're not joking, the ticket probably outlines other options. Options the OP is free to exercise. If you are one of those lemmings that doesn't worry about the ramifications of just paying a ticket in a "points" state like TX is now, then by all means just mail in YOUR tickets with the payment and pay up every year once you reach six points.

And we are all free to criticize someone for helping to clog up the cash strapped courts to fight something as trivial as a speeding ticket. Want an esy way to avoid points on your license? Don't speed!
