I've had Reliant (and its predecessor) for 30+ years. I'm currently on a plan in which I pay $125/month. Period. It's not balanced billing, where I'll have to pay up at the end of the term. It's a flat $125/month.

Prior to this plan, I was paying 8 cents/kwh.

No monthly service charges. Customer service is excellent.

11 cents is OUTRAGEOUS!

powertochoose.org

Find the cheapest but make sure you read the fine print. I pay 8 cents per kWh with no extra charges unless I use less than 1000 kWh in a month which is never. I'd get the longest contract I could get at the cheapest rate. Customer service? I've never called my provider in 10 years because why would I need to?

Amigo Energy 9.5c/kwh & no deposit

Actually I discovered this energy company through my home based business. I was previously with Green Mountain Energy paying 13c kwh.

Someone else here tried to get in on it but was told that the promotion is over.

You have to keep checking the Reliant website regularly -- the really great deals dont last long.

About three months before my contract ends I start checking the site every day. When I find an awesome deal (like this one or the 8 cents/kwh I had before this one), I sign up for it to take effect when my contract ends. In doing that, of course, I'm, taking a chance that I wont find a better deal down the road --but how can you beat a deal like $125/month?
