Anyone familiar with this area? Im planning a move to the Houston area from Pennsylvania in 2 months to be closer to family. Found a duplex in this gated community that I'm considering purchasing, but I can't find much info on this community. My wife doesn't drive so having stores within walking distance for when I'm not around is a big plus. I also have a 14 month old son so schools will be an important facor in the not so distant future. I've read good things about the Spring school district. Any firsthand knowledge about the villas at northpark would be great.

I am not really sure if there is anything considered walking distance in Houston without melting , it is HUUUUGE and hot

The Villas at Northpark is very close to 1960 which is packed with stores.

My wife is a stay at home mom, but wants to have options nearby for a part time job when my son is old enough to go to school. There are a quite a few options within a mile of the villas at northpark.

Is this a decent area to raise a family? Good schools? Reasonably low crime?

I looked at that community a few years ago, and IMO it's not really a good walking-distance area. I wouldn't want to walk along 1960 to be honest, it's pretty crazy. It IS right near the Northgate Country Club, which is lovely, but I dunno. I admit I haven't lived in that area for 4 years, so I know it's changed some.

I can definitely say that values in that neighborhood have gone down a lot from when I looked at them (which would have been when they were newish): back then, they were all 100K+ for the smaller floor plans and 110K+ for the larger and the most expensive I see now is 75K.

If you're looking at purchasing in the Houston suburbs, look for single family homes. Duplexes were never built to be high quality outside of the inner core. Frankly, for a low budget, i'd look at some properties in Oakwood glen near stuebner-airline and louetta. Much nicer area and somewhat walkable commercial corner. Elementary, middle and high schools all within a mile and cheap!

I'm looking to rent in Villas of Northpark. Does anyone have any feedback on this subdivision, as far as safe-good neighborhood, nice place to live, etc? I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
