I am looking at Aurburn Lakes Retreat. My wife also mentioned Ryland homes in Woodlands. How do these builders stack up with each other? If you have any other N/NW areas that you would recommend in a 400-500 range and is family oriented please feel free to share.

If I were buying an inventory home I'd go with Village

Can you elaborate a bit more on Infinity being good?

I am on my second Weekly home. Excellent design, good craftsmanship (must stay on top of it like any other builder), good materials, and FANTASTIC service and warranty. They will do anything to make sure you're a happy customer. I know David Weekly personally through boy scouts activities.

I've got a Weekley from the mid 90s. Been here 7 years, good materials and craftsmanship, no problems with anything. Stood up to Ike as the eyewall came over us with tornado damage in the back yard, no damage done at all. Shingles may need replacing when it hits 20 yrs. Studs are framed up 12-18'' apart w/ 5/8" drywall. The only real complaint I have is storage space is skimpy relative to the rest of the house. One annoyance is studs in some places are some goofy number like 13 or 16 inches apart.

What ethan said about Weekley is true on both (except the boy scouts). Weekley does have a longer track record in Houston.

at that price range and choices you have givem, I wouldn't go for Ryland. Don't get me wrong, Ryland is nice, but at that price range I would go for David Weekley.

Im on my second Weekley house as well. Their service is awesome, they came out and still fixed small warranty items after I had lived in my house for almost 4 years! I dont think I would buy any other house than a Weekley to be honest, I have had such good experiences with them. Then again, I am hoping this is my last house for a LONG time..
