Yesterday, I went on a tour of a few preschools in Katy with my 3.5y son (turning 4 in December).
He has never been to school before and I am wanting him to start in the fall.
I want him to be challenged academically and want him to actually LEARN rather than just being babysat.
These are the places we visited:

Kids R Kids (least favorite place, seems more like a daycare)

British Private Prep School (were not giving tours at the time and only has an opening for 2days/week)

My Place Early Learning Center (seems like a decent place and also the cheapest option)

The Goddard School (my favorite of the bunch. Director was very friendly. Only cons were no meals provided and there's an apartment complex located directly behind the place)

Cinco Ranch Montessori (were not giving tours at the time. Heard a lot of good things about Montessori schools in general. Cons included being the most expensive place by far and only teaches until 3pm. After 3pm "college girls" come in and pretty much just babysit until parents pick up)

What are people's opinions and personal experiences of these places?
Like I said, I am looking to enroll my son in the fall and want an actual learning center with a rigorous curriculum.
Our son is very smart (I know, I know every parent thinks their kid is a genius, lol) and we want him to be challenged.

3 thumbs up for Cinco Ranch Montessori... our kid who is "graduating" this year and will be starting kindergarten in August can already read and write, count to ten in spanish, count to a hundred, knows basic concept of addition and subtraction, knows all the continents, etc... not sure if I knew all that when I was starting kindergarten back in the days.

I haven't taken a tour yet of the place, but I didn't like the whole "college girls" coming in to just babysit after 3pm.
Plus I'm not sure how I would feel about my son being in a class of 30 people with kids up to 6 years in age
It was also the priciest of all the places I visited.

I would suggest you also look at Grace School located at 10219 Ella Lee Lane in Houston, Tx. It a little further down i10 and the beltway but they have a wonderful preschool program.
