We are close to beltway and energy corridor- close to all... It just happens to be zip 77041.
Yes this! I was just logging in to mention that Awty has bus service to Lakes on Eldridge (for additional cost) which might be helpful in your search. Also, the campus is located next to the Northwest Transit Center at the terminus of the 290 HOV lane so you can largely bypass rush hour traffic. There are surface street options as well.

If you want a large, secular private school in Houston it narrows your choices considerably, and trying to live/work/educate all within ten miles is going to be a challenge - especially so since you may have a hard time getting into these schools and likely won't know for some time. Best of luck!

Thanks everyone for your inputs. This forum has helped me a lot - I now know my options for a good school. However, I am as confused as I can be - ideally I would like to send the kids to a good/bigger private school without affecting the quality of life *read as commute/traffic*. It is very late in the game and hence I would probably not even get in to the schools that i would like to get in.
Something has to give - workplace cannot change. So, it has be the school and homes near the school. Started looking in to smaller schools like Redd School (thanks to fnh).
Please keep the comments coming on any other recommendations that you might have.

Check out Mirus Academy in Katy (west of Houston). It's only about a 10 min drive from Sam Houston Parkway. They are a not a religious school and offer grades K-12. I know they are booking up fast for next year but still have some openings. My friend just enrolled her two kids there and was telling us how much they love it. I would call them sooner then later. Here's there website Mirus Academy

Good luck!

Hi Mommyengineer!

I'm really late posting and I'm sure you've already found a school by now but if not, I'd consider Grace School in Houston. I know for sure they still have a few openings in the grades that you're looking for, and they're definitely worth taking a tour. Yes, it's a Christian school but I have a number of friends whose children attend that school and the LOVE it. I've only heard good...great things about them. They're sort of small...but not tiny...and they go up to 8th grade. It's definitely worth looking into.
