Charter
Harmony Academy is at 249 just where you go from Cutten road to get onto the Beltway.

Private
Northland Christian lower school is on 1960 east of Northgate at a Church. The upper school is south of 1960 just east of Veteran's Memorial. There was a rumor a year or so ago that the elementary was moving to Champions Forest Baptist. The bus for John Cooper in the Woodlands picks up at Champion Forest Baptist.

How near is near? There are a few more up on 2920.

Also contingent on how religious you want to be. Harmony is probably more academically stringent than the religious schools. Some consider it to be religious, but not Christian.

@Crone,

Thanks Crone! I think I might have to look into Harmony for my kids since my school district will take the toll because of Habitat for Humanity Houses. Klenk elementary has already shown signs of crack because of HFH.

Are there any other good charter schools in the area?

Sometimes people in my neighborhood go to work for KISD so that they can take their kids to work with them.

Also if you are in elementary or middle, you can transfer to the school your child care provider is zoned to. One lady took a class at the local community college She was a student who needed child care. Another was a sub for the district so her kids could go to Kleb.

Also, Texas law provides that if an elementary that you prefer has room you can ask to go there. The state money for your child goes to that school. You only have to pay the difference between the state amount per child and the true cost to that district. It is way less than private tuition.

So far Mittlestadt is below capacity. Ask if your child can go there. There is no reason to say no, if they have room.

There was a time when the valedictorian at Oak lived in Spring. The parents bought a really cheap lot and told the school they were building.

What does the district require to enroll your child? They used to take a paid utility bill. I know one family who paid the electric bill of a friend who lived where they wanted to go. They paid the light bill and mom drove the kid every day. Nobody ever knew where they really lived.

Does Klenk go to Klein Intermediate? They have missed their AYP so many times, they had to let the kids go to Strack a couple of years.

The district office has really clamped down on those of us between the creek and 1960. Some have rented a small apartment across from Klein high school so their kids could go there instead of Forest. Ten years ago, around 500 kids were in Forest from HISD schools way down in the southern part of the district. Dr. Cain said the district did not check where the kids lived.

Good luck

Highly recommend Northland Christian. Our son entering 5th has been there since kindergarten and we (and he) couldn't be happier. PM me if you want more info.
