I really like Bassett. As Ethan Allen furniture was more than we wanted to spend, we bought a living room set from Bassett in 2003. During that time, our young children were really rough on the Bassett furniture and 11 years later, it's still too nice to get rid of them.

Back in my college days, I was committee lead for the "permanent improvements committee" that used a portion of our annual budget for buying and maintaining furniture for our dorm common areas. We bought a couple of leather couches from Bassett for our dorm library, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Great service, and while not cheap they were far more reasonably-priced than the other high-end furniture shops I checked out. Last time I saw the couches they were nearly four years old and still looked like new, not bad for consumer-grade furniture in a "professional-grade" application.

We got several pieces (whole bedroom and couple couches) from Bassett and are fairly happy with them. They had to change out one huge dresser because the middle was sagging. Build quality is good, customer service is decent, price mid range. We would buy again. We also have some pieces from Dillards, Metropolitan Furniture, Ashley - all lower quality than Bassett, but at about 1/2 price. Also we have an entertainment center and few other pieces from Ethan Allen and those pieces are little better than Bassett and were maybe 25%- 30% more expensive than similar items at Bassett.
