And i'm with 14Bricks, Discovery Green was already declared to be Houston's version of central park.

Hermann Park seems to be more of Houston's Central Park.

So what's going on with Regent Square?? This would be perfect with that plus this new development.

Discovery Green = Houston's Central Park?
Has anyone ever been to Central Park??? LOL!

I've always said that Memorial Park is akin to NYC's Central Park.
Still not as big, but Memorial Park is one of the largest urban parks in the nation.
Discovery Green isn't much bigger than the pocket parks in my neighborhood. :P

I doubt the people who brought it up was going by size. More on it being a park nestled among skyscrapers that provides a lil relief from all the boring business stuff going on around it.

Again, I still say Discovery Green is more like Millennium Park.

Disco Green.

Millennium Park.

I see what Htown is saying though with the skyscrapers. But that's about all they have in common. Central Park is more like an escape from the urban world of NYC, just like Memorial Park. In some places in Central Park, you wouldn't believe you're in a big city as you can't even see the buildings. BTW, there is so much potential for the area surrounding Disco green. More residential, hotels please.

Not sure what parts are included in the work planned with the Kinder Foundation money but the plan looks great. This will be a large one-of-a-kind Bayou park/venue/trail system in the US...maybe the world.
Just got a better look at that. Love the number of pedestrian bridges. This would become the best park in the city IMO. It's like a combination of Hermann Park and Discovery Green.
